Starfish Christian Trust: New Covenant School System

UNICEF reports that in 1989, governments worldwide promised all children the same rights by adopting the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. These rights are based on what a child needs to survive, grow, participate and fulfil their potential. They apply equally to every child, regardless of who they are, or where they are from.

Every day these rights are denied.

We have been lending our support to the building of the New Covenant School in Pakistan. Christians find it difficult to obtain education and are often denied schooling in Muslim schools. The New Covenant School was intended to be for boys and girls of all faiths. The government changed and insisted that the girls must have a separate building. Starfish Christian trust launched an appeal in November 2013 and the girls building is now proceeding well.

In addition we are working with Pastor Frew to build a school in Harar, Ethiopia. Each year as the children grow another classroom is added. In time a full school will be available for the children. Where we are able we also provide teaching materials and teachers syllabuses and equipment.
